sentosa

·        Hello, All! This post is dedicated entirely for our recreational end of the Study Tour... Sentosa Islands! Here you will find some essential tips about the rides and their cost, because of our limited money of S$150 as a minimum amount.
·        Sentosa is a must-see recreational hotspot of Singapore, which translates to peace and tranquillity in Malay, and ranked as one of the most frequently visited amusement centres, with a massive five million visiting population.
·        The history goes thus. Once called Pulau Blakang Mati, translated as "Island of Death from Behind", Sentosa has a gruesome history of murder and piracy, disease which was later discovered as Malaria and also for the lack of fertile soils which led to its unpropitious naming.
·        The island covers around 4 square kilometres, and is found about a quarter of a mile from the main island of Singapore. 70% of the island is covered by secondary rain forest, the habitat of monitor lizards, monkeys, peacocks, as well as other native fauna and flora. A long two kilometre stretch of the island has white sand beaches.
·        The beaches will sure-shot visiting points for us all with no exception, and its split into three zones/beaches which are: Palawan Beach, Siloso Beach and Tanjong Beach. The lifeguards wear red and yellow uniforms and patrols the beaches of Sentosa. We will also be able to see the tip of Indonesia in the distance from the beaches!
·        Within Sentosa there are three bus services, identified as Blue, Yellow and Red lines, and a tram service called the Beach Train.
·        Visitors can also enter the island via walking over the famous Sentosa Boardwalk which is parallel to the causeway which opened on 29 January 2011. The walk costs an S$1 as admission fee .Sentosa can be reached from the Singapore mainland in a short Cable Car, which originates from Mount Faber, another fantastic site, and passes through HarbourFront en route to its final destination.
·        The island is also accessible by the Sentosa Express monorail, which replaced the Sentosa Monorail in 2006. It has three stations on Sentosa and one on mainland Singapore.
·        Tiger Sky Tower, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom, Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon, Songs Of Sea Sentosa 4D  Magix Sentosa CineBlast, Fort Siloso, MegaZip Adventure Park, Azzura Beach Club, Sentosa Luge & Skyride are some of the major attractions.
·        Unfortunately, we will be unable to travel on all of the given rides as the price in total will accumulate to a few thousand dollars.
·        So it would be advisable to set aside S$25-50 for the rides that they wish to experience.  There are however free rides found as well, such as the beaches which do not cost any money, for example.

·        To be continued...
